Gesine Bänfer (Germany) - French, Galician and Scottish bagpipes

lives in Freiburg, Germany and is a specialist on historical wind instruments. She studied shawm in Basel with Katharina Arfken and Bagpipe and Saxophone privately. She is prizewinner of the bagpipe competition of St. Chartier (France) and, together with her ensemble 'Les haulz et les bas' prizewinner of the Bruges Early Music Competition. She is founder of the iconographical collection 'Listen to this picture' and has lectured on the iconography of early wind instruments at universities and music academies throughout Europe.
